Your guide to what’s happening at Elim Hope Church this month

The month of June brings forward a change of season, Spring into Summer. June has the longest day contained
within it and it is always great to look outside at 10pm and it still be light. Summer solstice in some northern countries, have 24 hours of daylight, which must be strange for us. But, there is something amazing about light, where there is light, there is no darkness. Light penetrates any darkness and the darkness has to flee.

The same can be said of Jesus, our light of the world, where His light shines, the enemy has to flee. It’s reassuring
that when we expose the light into dark areas of our lives, the enemy has to flee. We give him no grounds of influence or authority in our lives.

Jesus in John 9:5, stated that he was, in fact, the ‘Light of the World’ as he was healing a blind man, and earlier in John
8:12, explained that he was the ‘Light of the world, and whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life’. This is a promise that we can all hold onto, that if we follow Jesus, we will walk in His light. Furthermore, Jesus extended that to us, that as followers of Jesus we are also the light of the world, and a city set on a hill, that cannot be hidden (Matt 5:14).

This month, as the light shines ever brighter in an ever-darkening world, let us take up the challenge to display the Light of Christ in our lives. You may be the only light some people will see this month, let’s not hide it under a bushel, but let us reveal Christ’s light of love into this world; to our neighbours, community, family and colleagues at work.

God bless you and may you have a light-filled month.
